The horses turn; tears of blood flow.
The difficulty has gone on too long and hope is giving out. The line is frank about despair, and its lesson is that this stage cannot be sustained; either the situation must be left or a completely new approach found.

What changes when line 6 moves
Line 6 of Hexagram 3 is yin, a broken line. When it is cast as old yin (a 6) it flips, and the hexagram becomes Hexagram 42, Increase: The top gives to the base and everything grows: a time of increase, to be used well and used now.
