What AsterNym won’t tell you
On our About page we said we separate what is calculated from what is believed, and that we will not sell you magic dressed as fact. This page is where we prove it. Keeping the make-believe apart from the real is not only a labelling job. It means refusing to generate the things astrology has always been tempted to sell and never had the right to: your death, your diagnosis, your future as a certainty, the private truth about someone who never agreed to be read.
We could calculate any of these, wrap them in cosmic language and charge for them. Plenty do. We will not, because it would not be true, and you would be the one left carrying it.
Astrology is a mirror. It is a serious, old, human way of understanding yourself. It is a terrible judge, doctor or fortune teller, and anyone selling you one of those is selling something they do not own.
How long you will live
No lifespan predictions. No death timing. No “longevity indicators.” No harmless-looking chart pattern presented as an omen of mortality.
Not in a reading. Not as a fun fact. Not tucked beneath a disclaimer with a nervous little asterisk.
Why: These claims cannot be proven, and they land hardest on the people least able to shrug them off. Tell a young person that their chart “suggests a short life” and you have given them something they cannot un-read, in exchange for nothing true.
The universe did not give us your expiration date.
Whether you are ill, or what to take for it
No diagnoses, symptom readings, supplements, diets or remedies derived from a birth chart. We will never suggest delaying, avoiding or replacing medical care.
That includes the mind: no diagnoses of ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety disorders, personality disorders or any other mental-health condition from a chart, a number or a quiz.
Why: A birth chart is not a medical test. An ephemeris is not a stethoscope, however beautifully bound it may be.
If something in your body worries you, please speak to someone qualified to help. The right person holds a licence, not a chart wheel.
Whether you will have children, or what sex a baby will be
No predictions about whether or when you will conceive, become pregnant or carry a pregnancy successfully. No declarations that children are, or are not, “indicated” in your fifth house.
If a clinician has already given you several medically equivalent dates for a planned procedure or treatment, AsterNym may show how a traditional almanac classifies those dates. It will never tell you to move outside the medically approved window to satisfy the calendar.
No chart can tell you what sex a fetus is. AsterNym’s Chinese lunar gender chart is presented only as folklore, alongside the research showing that it performs no better than chance. It is not a prenatal test.
Why: This is one of the most tender questions a person can bring to astrology, and one of the places where a confident wrong answer can cause the deepest harm, in either direction.
Some subjects deserve care, honesty and room for uncertainty. This is one of them.
Who to marry, or who to leave
We offer compatibility as a way to begin a conversation, never as a verdict on a relationship.
We will not tell you that a chart means you should leave someone. We will not declare that another person is unsafe, dishonest or unfaithful.
Why: An AsterNym Match Score can be an interesting conversation starter. It is not a probability that a relationship will succeed, and it does not get a vote in your relationship. A high score never outweighs controlling, violent, coercive or frightening behaviour: if someone is frightened of a partner, chart compatibility is not a safety assessment. Their actual behaviour matters.
Real decisions about real people deserve better evidence than birth dates. The people living inside those relationships deserve better than an algorithm playing Cupid, or judge.
What someone else is “really” like
No secret character reports, hidden motives or ominous warnings about named third parties: your mother, your ex, your manager or the neighbour who keeps stealing your parking spot.
Compatibility may compare symbolic chart structures and describe the relationship dynamic a tradition associates with them. It will not infer someone’s private motives, moral character, trustworthiness, mental health, sexuality, trauma, criminality or whether they secretly love, hate or are cheating on you. “A Saturn-heavy pattern astrologers associate with hierarchy or friction” is allowed; “your manager is controlling” is not.
Our public-figure pages explore charts while stating clearly that a chart is not a fact about a person.
Why: Other people did not consent to being analysed. They cannot correct the record, add context or say, “Actually, that isn’t me at all.”
Astrology should not become cosmic gossip wearing the costume of insight.
Whether you will become rich, or what will make you money
No guaranteed wealth periods. No chart placement presented as proof that money is coming. No lucky number presented as more likely to win a lottery, and no astrological reason to buy, sell or invest.
AsterNym can show traditional money symbolism, calculate actual financial comparisons where real numbers are provided, and generate themed lottery numbers for fun. None of those changes probability or predicts financial success.
Why: If every valid lottery combination has the same mathematical odds, your chart does not secretly have a better one.
Money follows arithmetic, contracts and luck of the ordinary kind. A chart gets none of those.
The future, as a fact
We will not tell you that a future event is guaranteed to happen because of your chart. Not that you will meet someone in November, lose your job this year, move overseas, or marry in 2028.
Traditional systems contain techniques for timing love, money, career, conflict and illness. AsterNym may explain what those traditions say about a period: “within BaZi, this Luck Pillar is traditionally read as increasing the Wood theme” is allowed. “You will be promoted during this Luck Pillar” is not. “This date is classified as suitable for marriage in the almanac” is allowed. “A marriage on this date will succeed” is not.
Why: Symbolic timing is an interpretation. Turning it into a factual prediction is the one move every technique on this site has failed to justify.
A period can be read. It cannot be promised.
Which decision is right for you
AsterNym can organise a decision. It cannot make one morally or practically correct because of your birth chart.
Where a calculator uses real-world information (salary, visa eligibility, housing cost, course structure, commute or financial projections), those facts are allowed to outweigh a symbolic reading. Reality gets veto power.
A chart cannot tell you whether a visa will be approved, a court will rule in your favour or a contract is safe to sign. Those depend on law and evidence, not symbolism.
We will never tell you to reject necessary medical care, leave a safe home, spend money you cannot afford, abandon a career or move countries simply because a chart says so.
Why: A decision calculator is a way of laying the options side by side. The options were yours before the chart arrived, and they are yours after it.
The chart can sit at the table. It does not get the last word.
Anything about a child, sold to a stranger
Children’s readings are available only through parent/guardian mode, kept on that device and stripped of adult material entirely.
We will not create a public child personality profile, we will not let another user analyse a child through compatibility or third-party tools, and a child’s reading never enters the star registry or an account.
Why: Children are people, not content. They cannot consent to a permanent public interpretation of who they are, or who a chart says they might become.
They deserve the freedom to surprise everyone, including the stars.
What we do instead
We show our homework.
We calculate planetary positions with the astronomy-engine ephemeris for the Sun, Moon and eight planets, and JPL Horizons vectors for the minor bodies, then transform them for each product: geocentric zodiac positions for the natal chart, observer-centred horizon positions for the Birth Sky. We name the house system on every chart. We show the arithmetic behind every number. Every dataset we use is named here.
When a calculation depends on a convention rather than a universally agreed rule, we name the convention: the BaZi late-Zi day rollover and solar-time policy, the Zi Wei year and leap-month policies, the Human Design node convention, the numerology master-number reduction, the Western house system, the tarot birth-card method.
When a tradition disagrees with itself, we let you see the disagreement instead of quietly choosing a winner: as with the question of which house represents which parent.
Tradition disagreeing with itself is valid, and we show it. Two AsterNym pages disagreeing with each other is a bug: when AsterNym changes a methodology, the current method wins and older conflicting explanations are corrected or retired.
And when folklore has attached a frightening story to a harmless piece of geometry, we tell you.

The sky can be mysterious without being dishonest.
