The numbers you were named and born into

Numerology reads two things: your birth date, which becomes your Life Path — the direction of your life — and your name, whose letters carry numbers of their own. AsterNym uses the Pythagorean system, the most widely practised Western method.

How your Life Path is calculated

Add every digit of your birth date, then keep reducing until one digit remains — unless the total lands on 11, 22 or 33, the master numbers, which are never reduced.

Born 15 March 1990:

1+5 (day) + 3 (month) + 1+9+9+0 (year) = 28

2 + 8 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1 — Life Path 1, the Pioneer

Your name works the same way: each letter maps to a digit (A=1, B=2 … I=9, then the cycle repeats). All letters together give your Expression; the vowels alone your Soul Urge — what you privately want; the consonants your Personality — the first impression you give.
