Every sign is one of four elements (what it’s made of) crossed with one of three modalities (how it moves): Cardinal starts, Fixed holds, Mutable adapts.

Why your sign isn’t a constellation

They are two different systems of measurement. The tropical zodiac divides the ecliptic into twelve equal 30° signs from the March equinox, so it tracks the seasons; the astronomical constellations are irregular regions of the visible sky, thirteen of them along the Sun’s path once Ophiuchus is counted. Because Earth’s axis slowly precesses, the two drifted apart after antiquity. That is why someone’s tropical sign and the constellation behind the Sun can have different names without either calculation being an error. Your report shows both.
