Wanting to join but wavering, pulled by the crowd's confusion. The remedy is to ask for help from the person at the centre; one honest appeal restores the resolve. The line is kind about the wavering.

What changes when line 1 moves
Line 1 of Hexagram 45 is yin, a broken line. When it is cast as old yin (a 6) it flips, and the hexagram becomes Hexagram 17, Following: Following what is right, and being followed: influence that comes from adapting to the time.
