Making growth legible. You can describe a change in a way that helps other people go through it, and you tend to improve as a communicator for as long as you keep having experiences to draw on.

Starting new pieces instead of finishing old ones, because the next experience is always more alive than the last draft. Wood adds range; the Storyteller adds enthusiasm. Neither adds an ending.

Writing, teaching, presenting, content of any kind, especially where the subject is change itself: coaching, travel, education, anything with a before and an after. Repetitive output dims you.

You may need to be heard, not only kept, and you may need a partner who is comfortable being part of the story. Some people do not want to be written about, even fondly.

Where this identity comes from
Evergreen: the Wood family
The element comes from the BaZi Day Master, the heavenly stem of the day pillar, the point a whole BaZi chart is read against. Wood represents growth. Wood-led charts are associated with patience, adaptability and the drive to keep developing.
A full BaZi Day Master is one of ten heavenly stems, a yin or yang form of each element. For the core AsterNym identity, the ten Day Masters are grouped into their five elemental families; your own reading elsewhere on the site keeps the yin or yang.
The Storyteller: Mutable Sun, mental plane
The noun comes from two traditions at once. The Storyteller carries ideas between people and reshapes them. Mutable signs hand a season on, so this half is read as the instinct to adapt: to change shape to meet whatever is arriving. The mental plane puts the work in thought: deciding, analysing, and holding a line of reasoning long enough to get somewhere with it.
AsterNym reduces the month, the day and the digit-sum of the year separately, keeping 11, 22 or 33 whenever one of those totals lands on it, then adds the three results and reduces once more with the same rule. That is why the framework has twelve paths rather than nine. The full method.
The formula, and what in it is ours

- Day Master element, the heavenly stem of the day pillar in the Chinese Four Pillars. Five values, and real birthdays fall into them almost exactly evenly
- Modality
- The modality of your Sun sign, from Hellenistic astrology: Cardinal signs begin a season, Fixed signs hold it, Mutable signs hand it on. Three values, one third each
- Plane
- The plane of your Life Path, from American numerology: physical, mental, emotional or intuitive. Four values
- Our call, not a tradition's
- Grouping the Life Path numbers into four planes is a common convention in numerological writing rather than a canonical one, and different authors group them differently. Placing 22 in the physical plane and 33 in the emotional plane is AsterNym's own call, made because 22 is read as the master builder and 33 as the master teacher
- Distribution
- Measured over 23,298 birthdays from 1950 to 2015: every one of the sixty cells is reachable, the commonest holds 2.00% and the rarest 1.44%, a spread of 1.4 times. Formula v1 ran at 16 times, with ten cells below half their fair share
- No birth time needed
- None of the three axes needs a birth time. That is deliberate: about one celebrity chart in nine on this site has one
