Karmic
Your karmic reading
The lunar node axis — what the tradition reads as already familiar, and the direction that is not — plus whether your date or name carries one of the four karmic debt numbers. Two traditions, shown separately, because they are separate.
The nodes are not bodies
The lunar nodes are the two points where the Moon's orbit crosses the plane of the ecliptic. There is nothing there — no object, nothing to photograph. They are a geometric intersection, they are computed exactly, and they drift backwards through the zodiac at about a degree every two days, completing a circuit roughly every eighteen and a half years.
Because they move at that rate, your node sign is shared with everyone born within about eighteen months of you. The house is what makes it yours, and the house needs a birth time. Where we do not have one, this page says so rather than defaulting to noon and presenting the result as a personal reading.
The four karmic debt numbers
They are read only when they appear before the final reduction. This is the part most calculators skip: if your Life Path is 4, it matters in this tradition whether it arrived via 13, via 22, or via 31, and a tool that shows you the 4 alone has discarded the entire distinction.
- 13The debt of effortreduces to 4
- Read as work that does not convert at the rate other people's seems to. Things take the number of attempts they take, shortcuts collapse, and the reduction to 4 — the number of structure — arrives the long way round.
- 14The debt of moderationreduces to 5
- Read as freedom used faster than it is replaced. The 5 underneath is the number of change and appetite, and 14 is that appetite without a brake — overcommitting, overspending, over-promising, and calling it spontaneity.
- 16The debt of the towerreduces to 7
- The harshest reading of the four, and named after the tarot card for a reason. It is read as things built on a premise that is not true coming apart — relationships, self-image, a story about yourself — and the collapse arriving suddenly rather than gradually.
- 19The debt of independencereduces to 1
- Read as having to do it alone — either because help does not arrive, or because it was refused. The 1 underneath is the number of self, and 19 is that self having overreached at someone else's expense somewhere the tradition places before this life.
Most people carry none of them, and the tradition does not treat that as an absence of anything. A page that found a karmic debt in everybody would be telling you nothing at all.
What this page will not do
It will not tell you who you were. Past-life identity readings — you were a healer in Egypt, you died in a fire, you knew this person before — are not part of either tradition on this page. They are a retail layer added later, and nothing in a birth chart or a birth date could support one even in principle.
What the nodes and the debt numbers actually describe is a tension in a chart: something that comes easily and is therefore overused, and a direction that does not. That is a claim you can test against your own life, which is the only kind worth printing.
