Waiting in the mud invites the robbers.
Moving too early has put you in an exposed, stuck position, and it attracts trouble that would otherwise have passed by. The remedy is extreme care: the tradition says damage can still be avoided by seriousness and caution.

What changes when line 3 moves
Line 3 of Hexagram 5 is yang, a solid line. When it is cast as old yang (a 9) it flips, and the hexagram becomes Hexagram 60, Limitation: Water in a lake with a bank: limits that give form and save strength, provided they are not galling.
