Jack Vance (born August 28, 1916, San Francisco, United States; died 2013), was an American mystery and speculative fiction writer. Vance is best remembered for Lyonesse Trilogy, Cugel's Saga and Dying Earth. Vance's honours include Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award, Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame and World Fantasy Award for Best Novel.
