Two numbers, one date, and a distinction most calculators blur.

Your Life Path uses your entire birth date, month, day and year, and numerologists read it as your overall arc. Your birthday number uses only the day of the month and is read as a specific talent you bring. Someone born on 23 March 1990 has a birthday number of 23, or 5 reduced, and a Life Path from all three components. The birthday number is the lesser of the two.

The last row surprises people. The birthday number has thirty-one possible values against the Life Path's twelve, and is still the minor figure.
How the birthday number is read
Most practitioners read the unreduced day too. Someone born on the 23rd is a 23/5, someone born on the 5th a plain 5. Both reduce to 5 and are described differently. The 11th, 22nd and sometimes the 29th are treated as master numbers.
If the two numbers disagree, trust neither. Two numbers from one date cannot both be your 'true' number.

One date generates six or more numbers, and with enough of them something will fit anyone.
Why the distinction counts
People conflate them and report the wrong number. Someone born on the 8th who says 'I am an 8' may have a Life Path of 3. If your number came from the day alone, it is your birthday number.
