Shuji Nakamura (born May 22, 1954, Ikata, Japan), aged 72, is a Japanese doctor of Engineering (1954-), inventor of the blue LED, 2014 Nobel laureate in Physics. Nakamura is best known for blue light-emitting diode. Nakamura's honours include Nobel Prize in Physics, Order of Culture and Zeiss Research Award.
