Carol Shields (born June 2, 1935, Oak Park, United States; died 2003), was an American/Canadian author. Shields is best remembered for The Stone Diaries, Unless and Larry's Party. Shields's honours include Companion of the Order of Canada, Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction.
